The pistols with cannon muzzles and frames of sentoku (brass of bronze) both well stamped with Meiji registration numbers. Steel hammers and triggers. The butts of stained noble material and inlaid with multicolored noble material sword wielding samurai on each side of both stocks. The quality of the inlay is of the finest carver work. The stocks are finely fluted and the master carver and inlayers signature appears on the forward inside curve of each stock. This is the only known pair of stocked Japanese pistols as well as the only known pair of double barreled firearms. The overall condition is excellent throughout. They are quite simply unprecedented in the literature of Japanese firearms and are museum worthy is every respect.

Japanese barrel stamp. Pronounced roughly Nittoku k za Meaning: Nittoku steel material / special steel material (i.e., a steel/material branding mark, not necessarily the gunmakers name).

Total length: 10" each. ~ .
